There are some things that you should consider before buying just any PC card. Here are some things that you should know about PC cards, so when you go buy them you will know what they should have. The standard card has a 3.3 V card and a 5 V volt. The card bus cards are 3.3V only.
There are three types of cards. Type I is a PCMCIA specification cards are a type I and has a 16 bit interface. The type I cards were only really used to expand the computer’s memory. The type II card has 16 or a 32 interface that has about 2 rows of pins. These cards were mainly used as I/O support. The type III cards have about 4 rows of pins and are a bit thicker than the other cards.

The PC card is mainly used for laptops; they are used in the form of network cards, modems and hard disks. Before you buy the PC card, make sure you know that it will fit your laptop and it can perform the job that you are using it for and most commonly that is for memory expansion.
